A new .tel domain name is now available to trademark owners. It is claimed it will "revolutionise" domains by no less an authority than the CEO of telnic, the company behind it.

It is a system of centralising all types of contact information in one place. The promoters claim this will allow users of any device eg PC Blackberry, mobile and things not even invented yet, to contact the lucky domain owners.

Apparently registration in this "sunrise" period will cost £280 but it is only available to opwners of trademarks. If you are not a trademark holder but would like a .tel domain, the next period is called "landrush" which is essentially an auction. Again contact me ASAP as we may be able to pre register your interest.

I quote: Landrush opens at 15:00 GMT on 3 February 2009 and closes at 23:59 GMT on 23 March 2009.

Domains in Landrush will be first come first served at a "premium" price. After 24th March it's general registration at " comparable to other domain price" costs.
