Microsoft have launched "Morro" It's a free virus checker. "Free" and "Microsoft" normally go together as in "Tasteful" and "Roy (Chubby) Brown" so what's behind this, and should it be considered as the definitive free virus checker?
My current recommendation for a Virus Checker is the Free Edition of AVG. (Businesses get tailor made advice) The reasons are three-fold.
1. It's Free
2. It is powerful
3. It's simple
I am going to try out The MS offering shortly, but "if it's not broken, don't fix it" is a sensible approach.
The cynical may also quote "there's no such thing as a free lunch" The general consensus is that Ms have done this to improve the image of their various operating systems vulnerability. Someone said it's like "Bad roofer offers free buckets"
One point is that the system only works on legitimate licensed copies of Windows.
At the moment, I'm sitting on the fence. I'm quite comfortable. If any of you want to try "Morro" please let me know how you get on.

A BIT OF AN UPDATE
I have recently installed a new PC using windows 7 and installed Morro instead of AVG
The installation was very easy, and there have been no problems to date. I have not changed my suggestion that you continue to use AVG though, as Morro has not had much of a run, yet.
